2026年度公募要項
Kyoto Writers Residency is a small organization run by a small group of volunteers. To keep the residency manageable, we will call for applications from ASEAN countries and Japanese-language writers only for the 2026 residency. We are planning to reopen the application worldwide in 2027.
For KOREAN WRITERS: please apply through ARKO. The 2026 applications have already closed.
For BELGIAN WRITERS in FRENCH LANGUAGE: please apply through WBI. They will accept 2026 applications.
Apply for 2026 Kyoto Writers Residency (KWR05)
Kyoto Writers Residency is now accepting applications from ASEAN writers only for the 2026 fall residency (3 Oct ~ 2 Nov 2026). We will offer a full fellowship for one author from ASEAN.
Our fellowship will include (1) a round-trip ticket from your airport to Kansai International Airport; (2) a fully equipped room in the city of Kyoto; (3) access to a workspace; (4) per diem.
2026 Schedule
The application deadline is 31 March 2026 Tuesday at 23:59 (Japan Time).
We will announce the results at the end of May/beginning of June 2026.
The residency will take place from 3 October to 2 November 2026.
The Opening Forum will take place on 4 October 2026.
Eligibility
Fiction writers and/or poets of any language(s) from ASEAN with at least one single-authored full-length book publication are eligible. (Nonfiction-only writers and translators are NOT eligible.)
The applicants must be able to participate in the residency, its Opening Forum, and the Closing Reading in full.
Application

- (1) BIO（No more than 1 page in A4/Letter size, in English or Japanese）
- (2) Description of yourself and your current project (No more than 1 page, in English or Japanese）
- (3) Sample work（Your name must NOT appear in the manuscript. The sample work can be an unpublished piece. No more than 30 pages of fiction in A4/Letter size OR 5 to 10 pieces of poetry.）
- (4) English OR Japanese translation of your sample work. The translator does not have to be the author herself. This is unnecessary if your manuscript’s original language is either Japanese or English. Your name must NOT appear in the translation manuscript.
- Please e-mail the above 4 materials (in .pdf, .doc, or .dox format(s)) to kyotowritersresidency<at>gmail.com. Your e-mail’s subject title has to be “2026 Kyoto Writers Residency Application”.

2026年度 第5回京都文学レジデンシー 公募要項
京都文学レジデンシー実行委員会は2026年度レジデンシーに参加する日本語作家1名を公募します。
京都文学レジデンシー実行委員会は2026年度レジデンシー（10月3日〜11月2日）に参加する日本語作家1名を公募します。応募締切は2026年3月31日（火） 23:59（日本時間）です。海外の作家との交流に積極的に取り組んでみたい方、自作が諸外国語に翻訳される可能性を探りたい方、今後も海外の文学祭や文学レジデンシーに積極的に応募するために経験を積みたい方は、ぜひ応募をご検討ください。過去の参加者については、本ウェブサイトやnoteの該当記事をご参照ください。参加者には（１）居住地から京都の往復旅費、（２）一人部屋の滞在場所、（３）ワークスペースへのアクセス、（４）日当が支給されます。

応募締切: 2026年3月31日（火） 23:59（日本時間）
結果通知予定：5月末〜6月初
レジデンシー期間：2026年10月3日（土）〜11月2日（月）
応募資格
- 少なくとも単著1冊出版歴のある小説家もしくは詩人 (ノンフィクションのみの作家は応募できません)。
- レジデンシー期間に京都に滞在が可能で、10月4日（日）と11月1日（日）のオフィシャルイベントに参加できること。
- 上記のふたつのオフィシャルイベント以外に、アウトリーチイベントなどの提案も歓迎します。
